As the senior designer for me it is all about the journey and exploration of the project and watching it come to fruition. There is always a Client, a beginning and a satisfying end however the space between is where the magic happens. For me architecture is organic & fluid, it's the process of elimination and consolidation of the original concept that excites me.
It is not my ideas that create the architecture, it is everyone’s involvement that shapes it. Architecture is an outwards expression of my inner creativity.
Architecture is my passion, it’s an artform that bridges the space between what can be imagined to a tangible reality. Bringing a project to life, forming a structure that will meet the needs of its inhabitants, a place that will complement them & its surrounding environment. I am inspired by nature, simple traditional building shapes that make a big statement but understated, letting the architecture speak for itself. I have a painting & decorating background which grounds me in practicality & gives me a keen eye for detail that I can visualise & apply to design.
Architecture embodies my passion for life, like intricate jewellery (my other passion ) it’s the smaller and finer things I look for to create the larger complete piece, every thought and fine detail meticulous in its presence and meaningful in its place. I am consistently thinking and drawing against thought and dimensions to ensure the implementation of fresh and bold new ways of creating spaces for living life passionately.
Joy in my work is derived from being able to exercise considerations in creating a sense of home and belonging to a multitude of demographics across New Zealand. I love the challenge of creating beautiful yet practical solutions to problems which can improve people’s lives. Enriched by studies and practicing both here in New Zealand and abroad in Munich, Germany, I have had experience across a range of project types and budgets. This varied experience has played a pivotal role in refining my design sensibilities, interpersonal skills, and technical expertise with the focus of articulating the construct of a home; a place of comfort, security, privacy, conversation, celebration, growth and development. Home is not only a space for physical living, but a notion that holds various other associations; emotional, biological, cultural and societal.
